July 2024 Product Recall | Boar's Head (2024)

Updated July 30, 2024

To Our Valued Consumers:

At BoarsHead Brand, we take food safety very seriously. On Friday, July 25, 2024, we initiated an immediate and voluntary recall of our Strassburger Brand Liverwurst because it had the potential to be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes. At that time, we also made the decision to voluntarily recall nine additional products that were produced at our Jarratt, Virginia facility on the same production line and on the same day as the liverwurst product. This involved removing over 200,000 pounds of product from the market which was done quickly and effectively.

On Monday evening, July 29, 2024, we learned from the USDA that our Strassburger Brand Liverwurst has been linked to the national deli meat Listeria monocytogenes outbreak. Based on this new information, we took immediate and decisive action to ensure we are doing everything possible to protect public health.

Out of an abundance of caution, we decided to take the extra precautionary step to voluntarily expand our recall to include every item produced at the Jarratt facility. We also decided to pause operations at this facility until further notice. As a company that prioritizes safety and quality, we believe it is the right thing to do.

Consumerswho purchased the below listed recalled items on or before 7/31/24 are advised to discard them or return them to the store where purchased for a full refund.

On behalf of all of us at BoarsHead Brand, we want to let our customers and consumers know that we deeply regret that our liverwurst products were found to be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes. No words can fully express our sympathies and the sincere and deep hurt we feel for the families that have suffered losses and others who endured illness.

The health and well-being of our consumers are paramount. BoarsHead has always been, and remains, committed to the quality and safety of our products. You have our commitment that we are dedicated to all BoarsHead products consistently meeting the high quality and safety standards you deserve and expect.
