Sorry to bump this so late, but I was just able to watch this finally tonight. I'm glad they're giving this show a good chance, while it's not rocket science and it's not Lost, it's still not too bad and another pleasant alternative to crime shows (although I *like* crime shows too).
Now if only they'd give Eyes the same kind of smart treatment, I like it even better than GA...

Grey's Anatomy 4/24/05
Meredith's mouth was another character this episode. She was froggy sounding, and her upper lip wasn't looking all that well.
How can you leave such a large amount of towel under a lung? Yowza! These interns definitely don't have the best awareness of their surroundings when they make damaging comments.
So we get Burke and Yang making their move after way too many furtive looks.
Izzy's boyfriend subplot came to an abrupt end. Izzy throws the best parties, though.
George losing at strip poker was a little silly, but fun.
Alex might actually have a heart underneath that tough, but hurt exterior. Will Izzy fall for it?
The guy with the obstructed bowels would have been a hoot at the party.
Jray | 04-25-05 12:04 PM |
I guess this show has already lost its following? I like it, so does my wife. I'll keep watching. At least Sandra Oh won't have anything to complain about with Meredith getting "preferential treatment". I will say that the whole thing with Burke dropping the towel bombshell in the legal meeting was... strange. It seemed unrealistic. I hope there are ramifications in future episodes for his "blunder" (for lack of a better term).

"I did it Izzy! I pooped!"

The Burke blunder was kind of handled poorly. For a sec I thought it would be Meredith's mother.
Izzy's party didn't have enough Izzy. And that makes me sad.

That's exactly what my wife said while we were watching. "It's going to turn out to be Meredith's mother who did the original surgery."
I really like Ellen Pompeo but do her arms seem to be abnormally thin?
She looked awful twiggy last night in that long sleeve shirt she was wearing under her scrubs.

The shows ratings would indicate otherwise. It's still going strong. It doesn't get much discussion here, but I suspect that's because the show is aimed at women and DVD Talk's members tend to be men.

From zap2it:
Freshman medical drama "Grey's Anatomy" stayed strong, doing an 11.4/18 to close the night. CBS' movie was second, beating the 5.8/9 for "Crossing Jordan" on NBC.

I was out of town during that last few episodes & taped them. I actually watched those on Saturday night to get caught up for Sunday night's new ep. After I saw the first episode I thought it might interest me, but I wasn't sure. Now I'm hooked.

They can do as many Izzy gets humiliated or dumped or whatever plots or subplots as they want, but your still not going to get sympathy from me when the character is a model.
Patman | 04-25-05 06:57 PM |
Was a model, not is a model.

Now there's a shocker...

How can any guy dump Izzy who is a doctor and a model???
QuikSilver | 04-26-05 01:36 AM |
Wow, interesting to see an interacial love interest couple on tv. Is this a first between a black and an Asian in the history of television?

You don't watch E.R. do you?

Does anyone else think that the one girl is a Rene Zelwigger clone? Voice and looks.
SexualPudding | 04-26-05 12:44 PM |
Yes, Wooderson, I have noticed Ellen Pompeo's resemblance to Renee Zelwegger, especially in the last episode. For some reason, though, I find her much more attractive than Renee, although, as someone stated earlier, she is starting to look too thin, almost to an unhealthy level. She still looks really cute, but I think she looked a lot better in Old School and Moonlight Mile.
maingon | 04-26-05 05:19 PM |
another soild episode
lucasorion | 04-26-05 05:48 PM |
This show has become to cutesy for me, especially with some of the lines they have Meredith say in voice-over and out loud. One of my pet peeves is when writers have characters say some platitude and then we're supposed to be entertained or impressed, and that happens a lot with this show. I wish I could find a transcript from this last episode, because there is a line by Meredith about having to grow up so fast that illustrates what I mean. I gave it a chance, but I think I'm only going to watch one 10:00 show each week - Numb3rs.

Yeah, I mentioned that in one of the earlier threads
Good episode
I'm interested to see what happens now that someone else knows about Meredith and the other Dr, can't remember his name.

I don't think even ER ever had a patient with a tumor that large. That was just huge, and the outcome wasn't a surprise given the odds against the woman.
Meredith and Christina both continue to play with fire as they continue their affairs with the attendings.
George is so clueless.
Izzy's "save" subplot seemed to be there just to prop up her "surgeon" credentials, just in case the viewers don't take her seriously as a surgical intern.
Bludvls33 | 05-01-05 10:34 PM |
A little far fetched as usual, especially with Izzie having to open the patient up and clear the blot solo. You mean to say there are no other doctors at SGH more qualified than a first year intern to open a patient up and clear a clot? Many things in this show are stretches, even to those who dont know much about the hospital setting, I wonder what real doctors and nurses feel about it? Still, entertaining with a decent cast that seems to work together relatively well. It hasnt chased me off yet.
MrX | 05-01-05 11:54 PM |
Felt bad for Charlie at the end.
You knew Alex would stumble with the nice gut routine at some point.
I agree the thing with Izzy at the end seemed like it was done to make the character seem like a doctor instead of just an excuse to get Katherine Heigel's chest some screentime, not that there's anything wrong with that:)

Bad days are bad?!?!?!? :fart:
Nice to see Diane Dixon alive and well.-wink-
