Each month, there are new bugs, fish, sea creatures, events, and items inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons. Events are generally available in both hemispheres, but some of the other content that's added monthly is specific to one location. The creatures and seasonal items will be different for the northern and southern hemispheres. For example, Summer Shells and DIY recipes are available in the northern hemisphere, and Snowflakes can be collected and crafted with in the southern hemisphere.
There are a lot of creatures available from previous months, including all of the new critters added in July 2022 inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons. The NookPhone can be used to check the active times for any bug, fish, or sea creature. After opening the NookPhone, players will need to navigate to the Critterpedia, then look through the different creatures to check what's available.

Throughout the month, there are items available for a limited time. Players can catch the new bugs, fish, and sea creatures to earn Bells and purchase the items while they're available on the Nook Shopping app. There aren't a lot of new creatures coming in August, but players will still be able to catch some valuable critters to earn Bells.
Every New Bug ForAugust 2022 In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Both the northern and southern hemispheres in Animal Crossing: New Horizonsare getting new bugs in August, but there are only a few being added. The new bugs all sell for relatively low prices, but they're all available for a good portion of the day. There are also bugs available from previous months that can be sold for high prices at Nook's Cranny.
Northern Hemisphere Bugs For August 2022
- Rice Grasshopper (Ground):Available from 8 am to 7 pm and sells for 400 Bells
- Walker Cicada(Trees):Available from 8 am to 5 pm and sells for 400 Bells
- Migratory Locust(Ground): Available from 8 am to 7 pm and sells for 600 Bells
Southern Hemisphere Bugs For August 2022
- Tiger Beetle(Ground): Available all day and sells for 1,500 Bells
Every NewFish & Sea Creature For August 2022 In ACNH
Unfortunately, as was the case with July, there are no new fish or sea creatures being introduced to the southern hemisphere. There are still some rare and expensive creatures available, such as the String Fish or Barreleye, which each sell for 15,000 Bells in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The northern hemisphere has a few critters coming in August, but not many.

- Moray Eel (Ocean): Available all day and sells for 2,000 Bells
- Ray (Ocean): Available from 4 am to 9 pm and sells for 3,000 Bells
- Soft-Shelled Turtle(River): Available from 4 pm to 9 am and sells for 3,750 Bells
Northern Hemisphere Sea Creatures ForAugust 2022
- Flatworm(Extra-small shadow): Available from 4 pm to 9 am and sells for 700 Bells
All Events ForAugust 2022 In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
There are a few events that start in August, as well as one that's continuing from July. The Cowboy Festival started on July 15 and will run until August 15. During this event, the Rodeo-Style Springy Ride-On can be purchased from the Nook Shopping app in Animal Crossing: New Horizonsfor 2,000 Bells. All of the events in August, aside from the Bug-Off, will be active in both atmospheres. The Bug-Off will only be available in the northern hemisphere.

- Cowherd and Weaver Girl Day (August 5 to August 14): The Cowherd and Weaver Girl Day is based on Chinese mythology. The celebration is about two lovers, Jinu and Niulang, and the one time each year that they can reunite. While the event is going on, players can get the Orihime outfit and the Hikaboshi outfit from the Nook Shopping app.
- Obon Festival (August 10 to August 16): The Obon Festival comes from Japan and celebrates and honors ancestors. During the event, the Eggplant Cow and Cucumber Horse will be available. The Nook Shopping app can be used to get the Obon Festival items in ACNH.
- Firework Show Festival (Every Sunday in August): For the month of August, a Fireworks Festival Show will take place every Sunday from 7 pm to 12 am. Before the show starts, players can speak to Isabel to create custom firework designs. Prizes such as Cotton Candy, Sparklers, Candy, Popsicles, and other items can be won from Jolly Redd’s raffles. Jolly Redd can be found in the town square outside of the Resident Services building.
- Bug-Off (August 27 in the northern hemisphere): The Bug-Off event for August will only be available in the northern hemisphere, and it’s the second to last one for this year. Flick in Animal Crossing: New Horizonscan be found in the town square, and speaking to him will start a timer for players to catch as many bugs as possible within three minutes. From 9 am to 6 pm, players can catch bugs within the time limit and give them to Flick to earn points. All of the points earned can be exchanged for random prizes.
All Seasonal Items & DIY Recipes For August 2022 In ACNH
There will be new items available throughout the month on the Nook Shopping app during the events. Some of the other seasonal items and recipes will continue from last month. In the northern hemisphere, Summer Shells can be collected on the beach, and recipes can be obtained by using a Slingshot to shoot down balloons. Similarly, Snowflakes can be collected in the southern hemisphere using a Net in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and the recipes are also collected from balloons. Slingshots can be crafted using five Hardwood, and a Net is made using five Tree Branches at the DIY Workbench.
Players will also be able to collect Leo Fragments until August 22 by wishing on shooting stars. The Leo Fragments will unlock the Leo Sculpture DIY recipe, and it requires three Star Fragments, two Gold Nuggets, three Stones, and two Leo Fragments. Star Fragments can be found on the beach the day after wishing on a shooting star during a sighting or a meteor shower. Stones and Gold Nuggets are found by hitting rocks with a Shovel. Starting August 23, Virgo Fragments can be collected and used to make a Virgo Harp. The recipe is two Virgo Fragments, three Star Fragments, four Stones, and two Gold Nuggets. The Virgo Fragments are available until September 23 inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons.
